29th July 2010
It is now just 8 days from the Hotspot race, which will take place from Cookstown on Sunday August 8th. A distance of 122 mile. We feel that at this point, it is an appropriate distance to start the birds preparation for their main race from Mauchline on Saturday September 4th. The birds have been training exceptionally well with few losses. I hope ye are all following the progress on the results pages. You will note that we have been training the birds initially 5 mornings per week and since Young Bird racing started, 3 mornings per week from Edenderry, a distance of 36 miles to our Lofts in all weathers. Usually accompanied by 300 - 500 pigeons per day, which hopefully will add to their experience.
We have been experiencing some difficulties obtaining ETS chips for the Belgium type rings. It appears at this stage that we are going to have to use the old clip on type ETS ring for the coming training / races, which will give us a more accurate result for the remainder of the training schedule, as these birds haven’t been registered on the ETS system thus far.
When racing on Sunday 8th the birds will be marked and raced within the Barrow Valley RPC and entered into the Leinster North Road Federation Race as well.
We will publish a Loft result immediately on the birds return from the hotspot.
Anyone who wishes to attend on Sunday 8th August is welcome to do so.
All details regarding the final race from Mauchline, ie. A full list of, Birds entered that are left, Venture Birds available for sale, and any other information available, fees ect. Will be published after the hotspot race
